There are artists who create from ambition, and artists who create from memory. Then there are very few amongst us that create for joy, like Anita Davenport, joy is neither a whimsical feeling nor a passing emotion, but rather a deep-rooted feeling that has been simmering within you since your youth and is ready to come forth to bloom when the time is right. For Anita, that time and place came while at The Lot at Formosa in Hollywood, under lights that once illuminated Marilyn Monroe and Natalie Wood. Anita stood backstage, barely breathing, as her first LA Fashion Week collection began its slow glide into the world. Each look that stepped forward was a story, bright, textured, and rhythmic. One day in 2012, my dad asked me if I wanted to listen to music on cassette. The first three tapes he gave me were "No Prayer For The Dying" by Iron Maiden, "3.V" by Zebra, and Frehley's Comet's self-titled album.

The first time I went to the 24 South Main location of Gallery Of Sound was in August 2010. My local Gallery Of Sound location in Westfall closed in April 2010 and it was the first time a local record store I went to closed. My mom and dad used to go to the Westfall location all the time when me and my brother were growing up.
