One of my latest musical discoveries is Chad Courtney. I discovered him on Instagram last year when I saw that he viewed some of my Instagram stories. I clicked on his profile and I saw that he was following me, so I followed him back.
I checked out his music and I really enjoyed what I heard and I couldn't resist telling him that I wanted to share a spotlight article about him on Generation Clash.
Let me tell you a little about Chad. He's a 22 year old artist based in Los Angeles that blends intimate acoustic storytelling with a nostalgic, cinematic sound. This shines through on his song, "Banana Pudding" from his debut EP "Rubber Knees Since August" which was released in November 2024. It discusses themes of love and vulnerability in your early twenties.
In 2025, Chad released a single with Riley Polanski called "Liberty". It was featured on Spotify's Next Gen Singer-Songwriter playlist and this marked a breakout moment for Chad.
His newer releases "Corcucopia" and "Pier 39" capture that same emotional depth and hint at a more expansive sound.
Here's the stories that Chad's last few singles tell:
Cornucopia was released on August 8, 2025. It delves into the struggles of growing up, the bittersweet weight of nostalgia. The song as a metaphorical cornucopia reflects not a harvest of food or joy, but a harvest of pain and missed chances.
Jawline was released on November 21, 2025. It talks about watching the person you love move on with someone new — someone who might look good on the surface, but isn’t built to last. It captures that quiet confidence of knowing you would have loved them the way they actually needed.
Pier 39 was released on December 19, 2025. It's the ending to the story of Jawline — a song written for someone you’re willing to wait for,
holding love for them even when they probably don’t feel the same.
Chad is in the process of releasing his next project where he explores the things he's most afraid of. For him, these things are the in-between moments when something hasn't fully ended but is no longer healthy, the feeling of time moving too fast and the beauty and the ache of love.
