Interview: Jane N' The Jungle

1: How did you decide on the name, “Jane N' The Jungle"?

It was a name given.  People kept saying I reminded them of this Jane in the Jungle character because I was so quiet and shy and then I had this belt that they wouldn't have guessed would come from me.

At first I thought the name was funny but then it grew on me and I really liked it.

2: What inspires you to create?

Hmmm, this is a tough one... it's hard to say exactly because you never know when inspiration will hit you.  Mostly though I am inspired by moments, relationships, hopes and desires....it's different every time.

3: What advice would you give to someone who wants to be in a creative profession?

I think training is always a good place to start.  You gain more confidence in your art and yourself when you feel like you have a handle on what you are doing.

Sure, it takes a bit of natural talent and drive but you can always learn and get better at your craft.

Everyone's path is different, keep moving forward on your journey, and when it gets hard, put your frustration in your art... everything is about the art. When it's about the art it's less about you, and it makes it easier focusing on just the "art" and not ego.

4: Do you feel open minded about what you listen to? Do you like going out of your comfort zone?

I listen to a lot of different music.  I think good music is good.  I've been watching a lot of MTV music videos lately on pluto and I listen to a lot of different playlists on Spotify as well as different channels on the radio.  I always try to go outside my comfort zone even though it's uncomfortable.

5: What outlets do you find out about music from? (Record stores, magazines, samplers, etc.)

The radio, Spotify, YouTube, Music channels, Instagram, social media, blogs, wherever I can really.

6: What is your favorite format to listen to music on? (CD, Vinyl, etc.)

Live music is probably my favorite format to listen to ;)

I really like listening to vinyl...

7: What band/artist do you think everyone should listen to?

Hmmm, I don't know if I have just one artist or band to recommend....

I would say try listening to different playlists and music formats with artists not so well known.  You might find a style or musician you really like.

8: What motivates you to check out a new artist?

When I hear something I like that will motivate me to check them out.

9: Who was the first band/artist that became your favorite band?

I was a big NSYNC and Britney Spears fan!!

10: What was the inspiration for your song “Trouble”?

"Trouble" was written during band practice one night in quarantine.

The guys were playing a riff and said I should try to sing like Dave Grohl and it came together pretty naturally.
