Today's packaging spotlight is about Cher's "3614 Jackson Highway" Hi-Fi reissue from Rhino Records.
The Rhino Hi-Fi edition of "3614 Jackson Highway" is pressed on 180-Gram Heavyweight Vinyl at Optimal, is packaged in a heavyweight glossy gatefold jacket, and it includes an exclusive insert featuring new liner notes by Rob Bowman. It is exclusive to Rhino.com and it is limited to 5,000 copies.
In 1969, Cher worked with the Wexler-Dowd-Mardin production team for her album 3614 JACKSON HIGHWAY.
This was the only album that she released on Atco Records.
The album takes its title from the street address of the Muscle Shoals Sound Studio where Cher recorded with the legendary “Swampers.”
These recording sessions centered on her distinctive contralto with gritty, soulful interpretations of songs by Bob Dylan, Otis Redding, and Dr. John.
Even though this record flew under the radar at the time, today it’s regarded as one of the finest, most authentic vocal showcases of Cher's career.
