Today's packaging spotlight is about Van Halen's "The Japanese Singles: 1978-1984" boxset.

This boxset is packaged in a cigarette style box with a magnetic latch. What's inside the box are the 13 7" Van Halen singles that were released in Japan with beautifully reproduced artwork and the singles are on black vinyl.

There's nothing like Japanese cover art. The way that they incorporate images and Japanese text has a coolness that no other country can match.

The singles included have these tunes: You Really Got Me, Atomic Punk, Ain't Talkin' 'Bout Love, Runnin' With The Devil, On Fire, Jamie's Cryin', Dance The Night Away, Spanish Fly, Somebody Get Me A Doctor, Women In Love, And The Cradle Will Rock, Could This Be Magic?, Unchained, So This Is Love?, (Oh) Pretty Woman, Happy Trails, Dancing In The Street, The Full Bug, Jump, House Of Pain, I'll Wait, Girl Gone Bad, Panama, Drop Dead Legs, Hot For Teacher and Little Dreamer.

Rhino does their releases right. Not only do they reissue great music, but the packaging also looks great. No blurry copies of the covers. Crystal clear artwork and incredible sound quality.
