We're introducing a new column on Generation Clash where we showcase incredible album packaging. I'm talking about diecut covers, embossed covers, textured covers, and foil covers.
"The Great Parrot-Ox and The Golden Egg of Empathy" is the latest album from The Claypool Lennon Delirium.
The 2LP edition is housed in a dark green storybook texture cover and gold foil on the sleeve. It includes a 24-page comic inside the gatefold and the album is on two color LPs. The vinyl edition was issued as" Cloudy Green & Gold, Yellowjacket, Green & Gold Splatter, Green Smoke, and a Gold vinyl version that's exclusively sold on their current tour!
The CD version is housed in a dark green storybook cover with gold foil too, but instead of it being a standard size digipak, it's the size of a 7" single and includes the 24-page comic.
This type of album packaging should be a lesson to all record companies because this is how you package an album. An album jacket is meant to be looked at while you listen to music and read the lyrics and even the credits on each song to see who wrote it and who played on it.
