Food For Thought #2

Today's "Food For Thought" article is about how publicists have to do PR.

To me, if someone who runs an outlet or works for an outlet contacts a publicist with interest in covering an artist's latest release, that person should be able to be sent some type of promotional item. I do understand that mailing out physical press items isn't really how it's done anymore, but that's not entirely true because there are people that I have received physical press copies from and for the digital only ones, I received a download of the album.

I feel that journalists deserve the press copies because they are going to listen to it and they are going to write about it. It's ridiculous that someone like me who is going to listen and write about a new release has to hope that I could get an advance copy when the music that should be promoted isn't the music that gets promoted.

I'm sure any publicist appreciates anyone who reaches out to them with a press request because they are trying to help hat artist get promoted so you can't blame the publicist...you have to blame the labels that aren't promoting the way they should.

This is only my opinion but if I or anyone wants to help promote something, find a way to email a download link or even an advance link.
