Spotlight: The Laughing Dogs

The Laughing Dogs are a power pop band made up of James Accardi, Ronny Carle, Moe Potts, and Carter Cathcart, and later on Skip Reed.

They released two albums on Columbia Records, the first being self titled in 1979 and the second titled "Meet Their Makers". They released Long Lost Night in 1992 on Laughing Bear Records and Hidden Bones on Molehill in 2007.

I discovered The Laughing Dogs at Gallery Of Sound. They had copy of “Meet Their Makers” on vinyl.

There was something that stuck out to me about it and I couldn’t leave it there.

So, I get it. “Melody Love” becomes my favorite song ever, and it happens with every other track on that album.

I started searching for the first album, and thanks to my friend Chris at Double Decker Records, I was able to get an original white label promo vinyl copy for $1.

The cover art on The Laughing Dogs debut album was the art that was going to be used for Wicked Lester's debut album. Wicked Lester became Kiss and that cover art was never used until The Laughing Dogs used it.
