Retronaut Selects: Joey Wilson - Going Up (1980)

Joey Wilson is an American new wave singer, guitarist, songwriter and bandleader.

He was born in Philadelphia in 1954 and he passed away on Christmas 1997.

He began playing the folk club circuit and he started playing rock n' roll after a friend dared him to.

In the 1987 Madonna film, "Who's That Girl", Duncan Faure sang a song that Joey Wilson and Mary Kessler wrote called "24 Hours".

I discovered Joey Wilson in the used vinyl section at Gallery Of Sound.

I found his one and only album "Going Up" for a few dollars and it's a promotional edition with the gold stamp and promo strip.

It was produced by Jimmy Destri from Blondie.

This album is fantastic!

I remember when the LP was first released! Lived on 6th Street in Philly, near South St. First album on Modern Records was none other than Stevie Nicks! Produced by Paul Fishkin.
