Fellaheen Records announces the long-awaited release of Andy and the Rattlesnakes, an eponymous new album featuring songs written and recorded by the band in the past decade. Dubbed by the L.A. Weekly as “one of the great, lost eclectic underground rock & roll bands in West L.A. in the early 80s,” Andy and the Rattlesnakes captivated L.A. music fans with their exciting live performances. The band's sound combines twisted punk overtones, reggae dubs, ska skanks, and spontaneous jazz and blues improvisations, into a mixture held together by the heart and soul backbone of solid R&B and rock n’ roll.
It's an album filled with love and memories due to the recent loss of two key band members, Paul “The Kid” Lacques (Guitarist/Songwriter/Co-Producer) and Rob “Rio” Hasick (Bassist/Songwriter). The album was produced by Andy Krikun, Paul Lacques, Rod Shepard, and Steve Vavagiakis, and features long-time band members Andy Krikun (Guitarist/Songwriter/Vocals), Morley Bartnof (Keyboards/Songwriter/Vocals), John Lacques (Drums), and Mike Tempo (Percussion). Special guests include John Densmore of the Doors (Percussion), Victoria Jacobs (Vocals), Daisy Krikun (Vocals), singer/actress Amy Madigan (vocals), and Richie Lawrence (Accordion).
At Generation Clash, I discovered Andy and The Rattlesnakes because of their keyboardist Morley Bartnof.
This album is incredible. It stands out from anything you hear today because of how many musical styles they incorporate into their sound as well as them being a group of people playing instruments.
More artists need to listen artists like Andy and The Rattlesnakes because we need to bring back the idea of people being in a room playing instruments. There is much different feeling you get when you listen to someone playing an instrument instead of programming it through a computer.
If you want to have your mind blown, listen to the new Andy and The Rattlesnakes album.
