I discovered Mickey Mess on a playlist called "Rock-A-Rama Radio" by Scream Idol.
I was listening to the playlist on shuffle and the Mickey Mess tune that I heard was called "Only Dream Of You". I was blown away and I sent him an email, and I remember being amazed at the email he sent me because of how he wanted to check out my book and how much information he gave me about his other projects.
In his email, I learned that "Only Dream Of You" was originally on his project California Rain. He told me that the version on Spotify that he released as Mickey Mess is a version that has full instrumentation, which differs from the original California Rain version because it only included vocals and guitars.
Another project he told me about was Swanny James, a collaboration including him and Jimmy Swan of Hollywood Rose, Bad Bones and Feast Of Joy. They were in Bad Bones together in the 1990s. What I recall about him telling me about the debut single by Swanny James called "Ciao Ciao" is that he asked if I would check it out and I couldn't believe how great it was.
I featured it on The Songs You Need To Hear, and I researched more of his projects and who he's worked with.
