Retronaut Jukebox: Henry Morris

Retronaut Jukebox is back with it’s 30th installment!

We created this playlist to share 10 old songs and 10 new songs to promote a diverse music taste. There are so many great acts, old and new, and we want to share these artists with you.

This month’s playlist includes: The Greg Kihn Band, Rat Motel, L.A. Guns, Pan Arcadia, Saxon, The Great Affairs, and more!!!

This installment’s featured artist is the fantastic Henry Morris! Read along to learn more about him and hear about his tune “Always Rather Be With You”.

I discovered this tune after hearing it in Henry's TikTok videos and I wanted to write about it on GenClash.

His debut tune is fantastic because he's unafraid of being unique. Instead of trying to sound like other artists, he is inspired by them instead of imitating them. When you are inspired by an artist, you are impressed by what they've created because it can't be compared to something else. When we discover these artists, they make us want to create something that can't be compared to something else, and the only reason why certain music can be compared is because they are imitating something instead of being inspired by it. One choice involves copying what someone does and the other involves you wanting to create because you can hear that this artist isn't following trends to get noticed. They are creating the songs they don't hear other people creating, and they make their listeners want to do the same.

Don't imitate what has been done. Be inspired to create the music you don't hear others creating. Make the music you want to hear.
