Retronaut Selects: Strapps - Strapps (1976)

I first found out about Strapps from a Japanese music magazine called Ongaku Senka! I remember seeing photos of them and finding it interesting that they were a lesser known act that Japan was always talking about. Most magazines talk about popular acts often, but I thought it was cool that they were talking about this newer, lesser known act in the same way.

I remember that Strapps wasn't on Spotify when I first found out about them. I had to google their music. There was a website that had MP3 copies of their songs and I downloaded them to listen to on my Blackberry. It's amazing how much music from that time period, obscure artists specifically that aren't on Spotify. You can only find these artists by going to a record store or searching for a copy on eBay.

Eventually, I was able to find a copy of this album on vinyl! I got it from a guy on eBay, and it was a present for my birthday! This album took time for me to get into, but I remember getting into Secret Damage first and then I started listening to the first album more often.

It's a marvelous debut, full of gusto and passion...and all we ask you to do is listen.

Essential Tracks: Rock Critic, Sanctuary, Oh! The Night
