Spotlight: Riff Raff

Riff Raff are a hard rock band from the USA that is made up of Doug Lubahn, Mark Kaufman, Ned Liben and Werner Fritzschings. They were founded in 1979 and the band split up in 1981.

They released one album, titled "Vinyl Futures" in 1981 on Atco. It includes original songs as well as a cover of "Treat Me Right" which Doug Lubahn co-wrote with Pat Benatar for her 1980 album Crimes Of Passion.

Doug Lubahn became the studio bass player for The Doors, who were known for never having a bass player. He played on seven of the ten tunes on Strange Days. He was given an offer to join The Doors but he declined. He also played on ten of the twelve tunes on Waiting For The Sun, and he played on The Soft Parade. He also played in the bands Clear Light, Dreams, and Pierce Arrow. He played on the albums "Emotions In Motion" and "Signs Of Life" by Billy Squier. He also played bass on the album "Penetrator" by Ted Nugent.

Ned Liben went on to be one half of the duo Ebn-Ozn. He owned and operated Sound Over SoHo studio with his partner Thomas Skinnar. He also built Sundragon Studios in New York.

Werner Fritzschings played with Cactus, Free Beer, The Stanky Brown Group, Pierce Arrow (along with Doug Lubahn), Hall & Oates, Carlene Carter, Pure Prairie League, Paul Collins' Beat, Leslie Mills, James Arboth, and House Of Lords.
