The latest album by Palaye Royale is fantastic.

When COVID-19 began in early 2020, everyone didn't know what was going to happen next. We were all quarantined and wearing masks, two things we've never experienced before. I had a lot of times where I wondered if this was really happening, and it was.

It felt like there were so many things that were going to happen that were impossible now...but after being alone with my thoughts for so long, I realized that everything happened this way for a reason. Everything that didn't happen, didn't, because it wasn't meant to. Everything that was going to happen, was going to, despite what was going on.

I think that a lot of Fever Dream discusses all the topics we've had time to think about who we are, where we're going, and what we've been through. It spans from discussing toxic relationships, being broken because of how people have treated you, and people who aren't who they say they are.

I thought about so many things during quarantine because there was so much time, time to wonder if things were ever going to be normal again. We live in a new normal which we're used to because we've been living this way, but now we are more careful when we go out because we can get sick because of COVID. They have vaccines, but they can't protect us from the new subvariants so we have to be careful.

To me, Fever Dream is album that allows us to focus on something else.  For a few minutes, we can think about something other than not knowing what will happen next. We are all going through this together.

We hear lyrics about things that we believe people would never do to us, but these things do happen. It's such a relief when we wake up from a bad dream because we're okay, and we fear bad things happening because we fear that we can't feel happy again. The bad things happen so we can learn and become a better person.

Listen to Fever Dream, and learn from all the words in these songs.
